- TITLE: Credit Gurantee Capacity Building Program for Fund DAMU’s Staffs

As part of the KSP with Kazakhstan, 10 staffs from the Entrepreneurship Development Fund “DAMU” JSC under the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT) of Kazakhstan paid a week visit to Korea at the end of June.
This training program has been included as a part of the 2012 KSP project on the request from the Kazakhstan government in the need of improved capacity for the implementation of a credit guarantee system the government of Kazakhstan is newly preparing for launch. DAMU, as the institution
responsible for SME development and the current credit guarantee system in Kazakhstan needs support to early settlement of the credit guarantee system in Kazakhstan in which the 2011 KSP had dealt and made some policy recommendation on for MEDT.
The theme of the training program was ‘Implementation of Credit Guarantee and the Capacity Building.’ The DAMU’s staffs, headed by Mr. Yerken Shardarbekov, the deputy chairman of DAMU had chances to share the knowledge on the credit guarantee system and its
implementation in Korea in order to enhance their capacity of implementing the Credit Guarantee System for SME development in Kazakhstan.
The training course consisted lectures such as Introduction to Credit Guarantee System of Korea and the World and Development of Credit Ratings System, as well as visiting branches of the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund (KODIT) for hands on experience of credit evaluation. Additionally, as a part of the training program, the Kazakhstani delegation visited Korea Enterprise
Data, Korea Exchange, Kookmin Bank HQ, and so on and learned the relations and functions of those institutions for SME development and implementation of credit guarantee system in Korea.
